Nutilis Powder

Thickening powder for food and drinks

Nutilis Powder can be added to puréed food, drinks and nutritional supplements without changing their taste. According to the amount used, and following the advice of a doctor, a syrup, custard or semi-solid consistency can be achieved. Once thickened, food and drinks can be treated normally: chilled, frozen and reheated. Nutilis-thickened food won’t change texture in the mouth – it stays the same until it’s completely swallowed.

Option 1. Using the shaker

  1. Pour the drink into the shaker
  2. Add the recommended amount of Nutilis
  3. Screw the lid on tightly and shake vigorously until the powder is well dissolved (approx 5-10 seconds)
  4. Stir the drink gently for 1 to 2 minutes
  5. Leave to stand for a few minutes whilst the drink is reaching the desired thickness

Option 2. Using a fork or small whisk in the shaker or tall cup

  1. Pour the drink into a shaker or tall cup
  2. Add the recommended amount of Nutilis
  3. Stir vigorously until the powder is well dissolved
  4. Stir gently for 1 to 2 minutes
  5. Leave to stand for a few minutes whilst the drink is reaching the desired thickness

Option 3. Using a fork or small whisk in a cup

  1. Pour half the drink into a cup
  2. Add the recommended amount of Nutilis
  3. Stir until the powder is moistened and a smooth consistency is achieved
  4. Add the rest of the liquid to the cup
  5. Stir the drink for approx 1-2 minutes until a smooth thickened solution is achieved
  6. Leave to stand for a few minutes whilst the drink is reaching the desired thickness

Adding extra Nutilis to thickened drinks

Once a drink has been thickened using New Nutilis, it is possible to add additional New Nutilis powder in order to increase the thickness of the fluid. Please follow the below steps for optimum results and a smooth consistency. For best results, please use the Nutilis shaker.

  1. Add approximately 0.5 scoops to the thickened liquid
  2. Screw the lid on tightly
  3. Shake vigorously for approximately 20 seconds
  4. Unscrew the lid and stir gently with a fork for a few seconds
  5. Judge the consistency
  6. If a greater consistency is still required, repeat steps 1 to 5 adding a maximum of 1 scoop at a time

Hot drinks* (Temperature > 60 °C)

For optimal results and safety please allow hot drinks to cool slightly prior to thickening. If desired or needed drinks may be heated in the microwave after the addition of Nutilis.* Let the prepared liquid stand for a few minutes to achieve the desired thickness.

Please note: if reheating thickened hot drinks please ensure they are reheated immediately after thickening and not left. If a drink contains milk it should be used within 2 hours to avoid spoilage.

Carbonated drinks (cola, lemonade)

For optimal results stir carbonated drinks until the drink has gone flat and most of the foam has settled before adding Nutilis powder.
